A Legacy Built on Excellence, Integrity, and the Western Way
Pete Carr’s story is one of perseverance, hard work, and faith, a reminder that success doesn’t come from circumstances but from determination. Moving to Dallas, Texas, at a young age and being raised by a single mother, Pete learned early the value of resilience and responsibility. Life wasn’t easy, and finishing high school was a challenge, but he never let obstacles define him. Instead, they shaped his work ethic and his drive to create a better future.
Like many young Texans, Pete was drawn to the rodeo arena. In his 20s, he competed as a bareback rider, chasing the dream of becoming a world champion. While his time as a contestant was eventually cut short, the experience gave him a deep respect for the athletes, animals, and traditions that make rodeo special.
To support himself, Pete went into construction. He started at the bottom, hauling sheetrock to job sites, and worked his way up by learning every aspect of the trade. Over time, he became a project manager and later moved into company leadership. His natural business instincts, attention to detail, and relentless pursuit of quality helped him build a successful national commercial construction company, Resource Commercial Construction, all without the benefit of higher education.
After achieving success in construction, Pete turned back to the sport that had always inspired him. He purchased his PRCA Stock Contractor Card and founded Pete Carr Pro Rodeo, bringing the same high standards and precision that defined his construction career. His goal was simple: raise the bar for livestock care, event production, and professionalism in rodeo.
Today, Pete Carr Pro Rodeo is one of the most respected stock contractors in the country, providing stock for top rodeos including Fort Worth, San Antonio, Houston, San Angelo, and the National Finals Rodeo. Pete’s guiding principles are straightforward: work hard, do things right, and treat people fairly. Those values have earned him the respect of contestants, committees, and fans alike.
Carr’s commitment to excellence has been recognized throughout his career. He has been nominated seventeen times for PRCA Stock Contractor of the Year, named the 2024 Resistol Man of the Year, and is a two-time WPRA Stock Contractor of the Year. In 2025, he earned his second Stock Contractor of the Year award for Extreme Bulls.
His livestock program is widely known as one of the strongest in professional rodeo. Horses like Dirty Jacket, a two time PRCA Bareback Horse of the Year, and Bayou Bengal, the 2023 Bucking Bull of the Year, are just two examples of the animals that carry the Carr brand. In 2025, twenty two head of Carr livestock were selected for the National Finals Rodeo, more than any other contractor that year, a testament to the program’s consistency and quality. That same year, Carr was named the 2025 Extreme Bull Stock Contractor of the Year, earning the honor for the second time.
Despite his success, Pete remains humble and grounded. He is known for his quiet leadership style, commitment to doing what is right, and willingness to help others. Whether mentoring younger contractors, improving safety and livestock care standards, or serving on the board of Resistol’s Cowboys Who Care Foundation, Pete continues to give back to the sport and community that shaped him.
Faith and family are fundamental to Pete Carr’s life. His wife, Holly, has been a steadfast source of support, and her encouragement and belief in his vision have been instrumental in his continued success.
Pete Carr remains a champion of excellence, a steward of Western tradition, and one of the most esteemed figures in professional rodeo.
