James Jennings - 2010

Updated: Mar 17

Rodeo Announcer and Author

From a Dallas police officer to the voice of the Dallas Cowboys for 22 years, rodeo and sports announcer, James Jennings has had a very eventful life. As a radio traffic reporter in Dallas, he was always aware of the sights and sounds of the city. Putting his skill to work in the Cotton Bowl, enhanced the notoriety of that familiar voice.

The Sulfur Springs native began his professional announcing career in 1958 at a high school rodeo in Jacksonville, Texas. He loved announcing for football, but Rodeo announcing was a great love of his. He spent many years at the Mesquite Rodeo working for hall of famer, Neal Gay. Jennings was inducted to the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame in 2010.
